Featured Student of January
Meet Hossein Jazayeri, a happy DAT Bootcamp customer who recently conquered the DAT. I’ve asked Hossein to share his DAT experience with us as the featured student of January.
What is one piece of advice you would give to another student preparing to take the DAT?
Push yourself and stay committed. This exam requires intense dedication for weeks or even months. I sacrificed a lot of leisure time in order to do well. I knew that once I achieved my score, I could, without worry, take time off and relax.
Set a high goal for yourself. This will allow you to work even harder if you are unhappy with your practice scores. Studying effectively and then testing your knowledge with practice exams will allow you to gauge how prepared you are to take the DAT.
Lastly, remain organized. By setting up a schedule or a plan, you will be disciplined enough to consistently spend ‘X’ amount of hours per week studying content, ‘X’ amount of hours doing practice problems, ‘X’ amount of hours reviewing, and ‘X’ amount of hours resting or meeting other commitments. This way, you can avoid getting complacent.
How did you use DAT Bootcamp to prepare for the DAT?
Since I heard that Bootcamp was most representative of the DAT, I decided to leave the tests until I reviewed the content twice. About a month before my test date, I started to simulate the actual DAT with Bootcamp. I combined subjects in the specific order to mimic the DAT. Once I received my scores, I reviewed each question thoroughly. If I did not understand why I got something wrong, I referred back to my study resources.
Bootcamp’s PAT helped me very much. The explanations were thorough. Every other subject on Bootcamp was either at the same level or a bit harder than my exam. Bootcamp prepared me well and surpassed my expectations.
What would you do differently to prepare for the DAT?
I would have finished content review sooner. I spent three months studying the material and one month practicing. The entire study process should not take longer than two or three months because it can be mentally draining. Also, stick to your schedule. When you start to take practice exams, you will notice what your strengths and weaknesses are. Biology was my strength, so in the last few weeks, I started to focus on it a bit less and studied OC more. After studying for months, I was confident that I was prepared enough for the DAT.
