Featured Student of February
Meet Valerie, a happy DAT Bootcamp customer who recently conquered the DAT. I’ve asked Valerie to share her DAT experience with us as the featured student of February.
What is one piece of advice you would give to another student preparing to take the DAT?
As you go through your study schedule, take time to recognize how well you understand the material and retain the information. This will allow you to identify and strengthen your weak points, which is essential for improvement.
How did you use DAT Bootcamp to prepare for the DAT?
I followed Ari’s 10-week study schedule. However, there were some days when I did less than what was listed for each day on the schedule and some days when I did no DAT prep at all, depending on my class exam schedule, holidays, and other events. I was able to make up for lost time by spending less time reviewing some topics I felt strong in, and by doing more than what was listed on the schedule on days when I had extra time.
A couple weeks before my test, I re-reviewed all the biology chapters, spending a lot of time on subjects I struggled with or did not remember, and I also quickly re-reviewed all my notes for general chemistry and organic chemistry. I completed all the question banks and practice tests, making sure to review all the questions I answered incorrectly or struggled with.
What would you do differently to prepare for the DAT?
I would have started using the PAT generators every day earlier on in my studying (especially for angles and pattern folding), and I would have spent more time learning and reviewing the biology material during my initial review of all the chapters. These two changes would have saved me a lot of stress a couple weeks before the test. I realized I did not retain a lot of the biology information during my initial review, so I had to re-learn a lot of the material very close to my test date.
